Car Cleaning: The Ultimate Guide

Car Cleaning: The Ultimate Guide

Posted in NEWS AND UPDATES by Autobrite on December 28th 2019
Here at Autobrite Direct, we’re not just a car detailing shop, but also experts on how to complete car cleaning, the right way. As we regularly detail and valet vehicles from our headquarters, over the years we’ve learned a thing or two about how to get the most from your products and your time and have developed a 6 step programme, which if followed correctly, will yield dazzling results every time!

Wheels

Often the grimiest part of a vehicle, the car cleaning process should begin with the wheels. Start by rinsing then washing with a wheel cleaner, working the solution into all the nooks and crannies using a brush, then apply your chosen sealant. This will prevent dirt from the wheels contaminating other areas of the car later on in the process.

Wash

We always recommend a 2-part wash when car cleaning, starting with the application of snow foam to remove baked-on dirt and grime with ease. After leaving to dwell, rinse with warm water and using a 2-bucket method, apply car shampoo to the car with a wash mitt. Rinse off and dry with a microfibre cloth thoroughly.

Decontamination

While washing will remove all surface grime and dirt, it won’t remove fused brake dust or anything embedded into the paint, so applying a decontamination solution is key. As with any other element of car cleaning, simply apply the solution, rinse and dry.

Polish

If you want to improve the look of the car by reducing the appearance of scratches or marks, then polishing is key. You can complete this step by hand or by machine, buffing off a light layer of the outer layer of paint to create a uniform and even layer.

Protect

The most important step – protecting your vehicle. Whether you opt for car wax, sealant or ceramic spray it’s vital to apply a layer of protective solution to help arm your vehicle against wear and tear.

Finish

Finally, add the finishing touches such as detailing spray to give the car a glossy appearance, air fresheners to make it smell great and dressing to improve the colour saturation of tyres, carpets and chrome.
