Car Shampoo Essentials

Washing your car is necessary if you want to protect the paintwork, increase the resale value of the vehicle and above all drive around with pride. Even total car rookies are familiar with car shampoo and more often than not this is the only product that people use when it comes to cleaning their car. Whether you’re a regular washer or a needs-must sort of cleaner, having a good car shampoo routine can keep your car looking tip top. Washing may seem simple, but there are a few things you need to do to make sure you get the most from your car shampoo.

Buy Good Quality

Buying a cheaper car shampoo often means you have to use more of it to get the same level of clean, whereas a more concentrated formula is a more viable solution. Concentrated formulas often include greater quantities of the cleaning agents and are generally better for the car as manufacturers ensure that only the safest chemicals are used, and that solution doesn’t stain or damage the cars paint. Always opt for a good quality car shampoo product, even if you have to spend a little bit more.

Kit Out with Mitts

Just as important as the formula you are using is what you are using to apply it. Often people use old sponges or rags which are unsuitable materials that can scratch the paintwork, creating eyesores and expensive repairs. We always recommend using a lambswool or microfibre mitt which are specially developed to be soft and generate suds, ensuring that your car has a safe and effective wash. Once used, these mitts should be cleaned, dried and stored in a zip lock bag to avoid them picking up minute grains that could result in scratches at the next use.
