Tips for Car Wax Perfection

Posted in NEWS AND UPDATES by Autobrite on August 20th 2019
Car waxing is the final step in the detailing process and one that needs to be done with careful consideration to achieve the best possible level of protection for your vehicle. Although many varieties of wax offer different levels of protection and shine, the principles for achieving a good car wax remain the same.

Buy High Quality

Car wax comes in three main forms of liquid, paste or spray wax and deciding upon which type to use is down to personal preference. Paste and liquid waxes offer protection that will last a longer period of time, whereas spray wax is quicker to apply but will need to be reapplied more often to maintain the same level of protection. Whichever you choose to use, make sure you buy from a reputable automotive stockist, with good reviews and multiple options so you can weigh up all the factors before purchasing.

Prepare for Waxing

While waxing needs to be done regularly to maintain an adequate level of protection, it is a process that cannot be rushed. Topping up your car wax requires you to clean the vehicle first, using good car shampoo to lift away dirt, grime and dust so that you don’t seal these contaminants in with the wax layer. It is recommended that you park in the shade to prevent the car wax from drying too quickly.

Finish Waxing

Once you’ve applied your wax in a uniform layer across the entire body of the car, you’ll need to remove the wax! This might seem counter-productive but buffing off the wax will help smooth out the layer, making it tighter against contamination and getting rid of any chalky or matte areas, improving the shine.
