Waxes Vs Sealants

Waxes Vs Sealants

Posted in NEWS AND UPDATES by Autobrite on May 06th 2019
One of the biggest car detailing queries we get asked is ‘what is the difference between car wax and a sealant?’ Both products protect the car's paint, but the answer isn’t that simple. Choosing to coat your vehicle in a sealant or a car wax comes down mainly to personal preference, but some factors such as lifestyle and climate can influence the choice. Here’s our rundown of both!

Wax

Car waxes sit on top of a vehicle's paint, creating deeper hues and giving a liquid wet look finish. This protective coating is breathable but helps prevent UV rays, moisture, oxidisation and environmental contaminants from damaging the appearance of the car. If you do opt for a car wax over a sealant, your lifestyle is a factor to consider. While some cherish the time spent with their vehicles, others prefer to live in the fast lane and drive. Wax is best suited to those who have a bit more time to commit to their detailing as applying it properly is a labour of love.

Sealants

Sealants have become the sweethearts of professional detailers, thanks to their easy application and lasting finish. Unlike wax that lays on the surface, sealants adhere to the paint and protect it from just about anything nature throws at it, with it’s hard as glass finish. Sealants tend to be man-made as opposed to naturally sourced, creating a protective shell that can last up to 6 months. If you’re looking for a product that will protect your car and can be applied in minutes, a car sealant is the solution!
